No Notes? Learn Any Topic Straight From the NaCCA Syllabus

Every other way to make a course in Flaevo starts from your own material: a PDF, slides, photos of your notes, text you paste in.

But plenty of students have nothing to start from. You missed the classes. The book went missing. The teacher never gave handouts. Your exam is still coming.

So there is now a fourth way in. Just a topic. Pick your class, a subject and a topic, and Flae writes the course for you from the official NaCCA curriculum, the same one your BECE or WASSCE is set from.

How to make one

Open Study, tap Add a course, then Just a topic.

The Add a course sheet, with Just a topic as the fourth option

Then three quick choices:

  1. Your class. JHS 1 to 3 or SHS 1 to 3. Flae remembers it, and Change at the top switches it any time.
  2. A subject.
  3. A topic. Search for it ("fractions", "electricity", "tenses") or scroll through the syllabus.

Before you add it you see a preview: every session the course will have, and how many learning objectives each one covers. Tap Create course and it appears straight away.

Searching for a topic

What it covers

Four core subjects, for JHS 1 to 3 (BECE) and SHS 1 to 3 (WASSCE):

  • Mathematics, English Language and Social Studies at both levels
  • Science at JHS, and General Science at SHS

For JHS it is the Common Core Programme (B7 to B9). For SHS it is the standards-based curriculum NaCCA introduced in 2023. We checked every subject against NaCCA's own documents word for word, so nothing in the syllabus was dropped or invented.

That check is about copying the syllabus faithfully. NaCCA and GES have not reviewed or endorsed Flaevo.

A topic follows you across the years

The syllabus comes back to big topics more than once. Electricity in JHS Science is taught in JHS 1, again in JHS 2, and again in JHS 3, each time going a little further.

So a topic course does not give you one thin year of it. It follows the topic from where it starts up to your own class, and each session is written at the level of the year that teaches it. A JHS 3 student revising JHS 1 work gets it explained at JHS 1 level first, then builds up.

A topic course preview, grouped by year

Electricity and Electronics for a JHS 3 student: two sessions from each year.

You are never handed work from a year you have not reached. The course stops at your class. If you want to see what comes next, switch on Also learn ahead.

How the sessions are written

Flae writes each session the first time you open it. That is why adding the course is instant. It also means opening a new session needs data, so open the next few while you have a connection.

Each session has to cover every learning objective for its part of the syllabus before it is kept. If a write-up misses one, Flae tries again. Every session ends with a short Check yourself, so you test what you just read rather than only reading it.

Notes from a topic course say they came from the syllabus, not "from your slides", so you always know where they came from.

What it costs

It works on the Free plan. Flae writes the first 4 sessions of a topic course; the rest show their titles with a lock. Pro and Max get every session.

Each session written uses one of your daily notes: 6 a day on Free, 40 on Pro, unlimited on Max.

Who it is for

Just a topic is for JHS and SHS students. If you are at university, your lecturer's material is what you are examined on, so add that instead: a file, photos of your notes, or pasted text.

Getting it

Update Flaevo from the Play Store, or download the latest APK from flaevoapp.com.

Then pick the topic you are most worried about, not the one you like most. Read the first session, answer its Check yourself, and from tomorrow it will turn up in your Daily 3.

Frequently asked questions

Does Flaevo follow the NaCCA syllabus?

Yes, for "Just a topic" courses. They are built from NaCCA's published curriculum documents: the Common Core Programme for JHS (B7 to B9) and the 2023 standards-based curriculum for SHS. Every subject was checked against the official documents word for word. NaCCA and GES have not endorsed Flaevo; we use the curriculum they publish.

Which subjects can I study without notes?

Mathematics, Science (General Science at SHS), English Language and Social Studies, for JHS 1 to 3 and SHS 1 to 3. For university courses or other subjects, add your own material instead: a file, photos of your notes, or pasted text.

Is "Just a topic" free?

Yes. On the Free plan Flae writes the first 4 sessions of a topic course, and the rest show their titles with a lock. Pro and Max get every session. Each session written uses one of your daily notes: 6 a day on Free, 40 on Pro, unlimited on Max.

Will it give me work from a class I have not reached?

No. The course follows a topic from the year it starts up to your own class, and stops there. Later years are offered separately as "Also learn ahead", which you can switch on if you want them.
