Studying on a Laptop? Snap the Question With Your Phone
On a phone, getting help with a hard question is easy: photograph it, and Flae reads it. On a computer it has never been that simple.
If you study in a campus lab, a library, or on a laptop in your hostel, you know the gap. The question is sitting in front of you on paper. Your computer has no useful camera — and a laptop camera points at your face, not at the page on your desk. So you retype it.
Retyping is where studying stops. A matrix, a chemical equation, a circuit diagram, or a lecturer's handwriting cannot be typed into a chat box in any reasonable amount of time. Most students give up and just ask the question badly, which gets a worse answer.
Snap from phone closes that gap.
How it works
- Open Flae on your computer at flaevoapp.com.
- Tap the + beside the message box and choose Snap from phone.
- Point your phone's normal camera at the code on your screen. Tap the link that appears.
- Take the photo of your question.
It lands in the message box on your computer, exactly as if you had taken it there. Type what you want to know — "explain step 3", "where did I go wrong" — and send.
That is the whole thing. Four steps, and only one of them involves your phone.
No app. No sign-in. Not even your own phone
The page your phone opens is just a web page. There is nothing to install, and it never asks who you are — it has no access to your Flaevo account at all.
That matters more than it sounds. It means you can use a friend's phone if yours is out of charge or has no camera worth using. Scan, shoot, hand it back.
Your phone and your computer do not need the same network
The two devices never talk to each other directly, so it does not matter if your phone is on mobile data while the computer is on the lab's wifi. There is no pairing, no Bluetooth, and nothing to configure.
Nothing is saved along the way, either. The photo passes through to your computer and is never stored anywhere. When you close the tab, it is gone.
Sending a whole problem set
Keep the phone page open after the first photo and it will send more. Working through ten past questions means one scan at the start, not ten.
The code itself expires after three minutes — long enough to scan and start, short enough that a code someone glimpses over your shoulder is worthless by the time they try it.
Why this exists
Most students who use Flaevo are on a phone, and everything already worked there. But a real number of you are in computer labs, or writing an assignment on a laptop with your notes open beside you, and the tutor was quietly worse for you.
The best study tool is the one that does not make you stop and do something tedious. Retyping a question you can see with your own eyes is tedious. Now you do not have to.
